Efren's mom, Marcela, credits her son's success in school to his attendance in HistoryMakersLA after-school tutoring program in Oxnard. After only 14 hours of attendance, Efren posted an 87% increase in fluency from pre-test to post-test.
Marcela says, "HistoryMakersLA helped Efren so much. He learned to read English so much better. Before attending, Efren didn't want to go to school and he didn't learn well. Now he likes school! He received the Student of the Month Award in November as well as a Good Citizenship Certificate. He didn't even have to go to summer school and his third grade teacher said he is the most advanced student she has."
